🚨 Village Resident Alert: Road Work Begins Monday, 9/14

Beginning Monday, September 14, 2026, Central Paving will conduct milling work on the following streets:

• North Main St.

• Folts St.

• Steele St.

• 4th St.

All work is subject to change based on conditions.

Please plan ahead, leave early, and avoid unnecessary travel in these areas. Delays are likely while crews are working.

Herkimer Sewer Collection System Rehabilitation

Construction the week of September 22, 2026

The Contractor will be performing sanitary sewer main cleaning and CCTV inspection on the following streets:

• Harter St
• Steuben Ave
• Suiter St
• N. Washington St
• Dayton Pl,
• Steuben Hill Rd,
• Dorf Ln, and
• Prescott St

Residents and motorists in the area may experience temporary disruptions, including construction activity and possible traffic impacts.

What Residents Should Know

Sewer service is expected to remain available during the work. However, the cleaning process can temporarily move air through the sewer system and may cause gurgling noises, movement of water in toilets or drains, or temporary sewer odors.

Residents in the work area are encouraged to:

• Keep toilet lids closed when not in use during the cleaning work.
• For added precaution, leave a heavy object like a book on top.
• Consider placing a towel between the toilet bowl and closed lid as an added precaution.
• Consider placing a towel or bucket over shower drains as an added precaution.
• Monitor your lowest fixtures. Make sure basement floor drains and other infrequently used drains contain water.
• If you notice a sewer odor after the work, run water in sinks, showers and floor drains and flush toilets to refill the plumbing traps.
• Residents and motorists in the area should use caution around contractor vehicles, hoses and equipment in the roadway. Minor traffic delays may occur.
